Furrow is literary magazine started through University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. Produced once a year, I was selected to design the cover layout out of four other designers. As the art editors we worked independently on our designs and then presented them to the rest of the magazine staff who voted on the cover. The designers were tasked with other responsibilities such as selecting submissions to publish, creating promotional material, and designing the website.
For the creation of this cover I selected a work by Angela Freeman. I was drawn to this artwork for its different textural elements and the calm color palette. The goal of this cover was to create something that would draw people in to pick up the book and look at it closer. For the social media images I focused on highlighting the different textures to give a closer look into the cover design. I felt this cover design was successful for title hierarchy created and the nice balance between color palettes.
